A questão do gênero na docência em engenharia

Abstract

Este artigo integra uma tese de doutorado e tem como tema central as relações de gênero na constituição da engenheira-professora considerando o universo das Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) privadas. Visa responder à questão: “Como as relações de gênero se manifestam na escolha profissional e na docência de engenheiras-professoras?”. Teoricamente apoia-se em Joan Scott e Pierre Bourdieu. Os dados foram produzidos por entrevistas narrativas com três engenheiras-professoras e passaram por uma análise interpretativa e temática. Constata-se que, apesar de existir um processo de democratização, ainda que lento, em andamento, permanecem relações sexistas naturalizadas quando se avança nos níveis acadêmicos mais altos e, em especial, no exercício da docência em Engenharia.This article is an integral part of a doctoral thesis, in the multipaper format, whose central theme is the constitution of the female engineer-professor, considering the universe of private universities. Aims to answer the question: "How are gender relations constituted in engineering teaching?". It emerged from the narrative interview with female engineers working as professors who raised this issue from personal experiences. The theoretical foundation is based on concepts by Joan Scott and Pierre Bourdieu. As a result, it is possible to notice that, despite a process of democratization, albeit slow, in progress, naturalized sexist relationships remain when advancing in higher academic levels and especially in the exercise of teaching engineering.
