dc.description.abstractO objetivo deste artigo é analisar as representações da velhice em desenhos de crianças. O referencial teórico adotado está pautado em Vygotsky e Moscovici e considera o espectro sociocognitivo de suas teorias. Parte-se do princípio de que as crianças não desenham apenas o que veem, mas o que sentem, somado ao que ouvem. A pesquisa de campo foi, assim, realizada em uma escola pública de Ensino Fundamental e teve como participantes 32 meninas e 34 meninos. O procedimento previu a coleta dos seus desenhos antes e depois de uma ação educativa gerontológica baseada na audição de livros infantis com personagens idosos. Caraterizada como uma pesquisa-ação, a investigação está vinculada a aspectos sociais e considera tanto os interesses científicos e acadêmicos das pesquisadoras quanto os sentidos que as crianças atribuem às pessoas idosas. Para a análise, de abordagem quali-quantitativa, características físicas, emoções, vestimentas, contexto, atividades e interação social foram correlacionadas ao gênero dos participantes. Diferenças significativas foram encontradas entre os gêneros, com destaque para as meninas que representaram uma velhice mais positiva. dc.description.abstractThe aim of this article is to analyze the portrayals of old age in children’s drawings. The adopted theoretical framework is based on Vygotsky and Moscovici and considers the sociocognitive spectrum of their theories. It is assumed that children draw not only what they see, but what they feel, added to what they hear. Thus, this field research was carried out in a public Elementary School and had 32 girls and 34 boys as participants. The procedure consisted of gathering their drawings before and after a gerontological educational action based on listening to children’s books which depict elderly characters. Characterized as an action research, this investigation is linked to social aspects and considers both the scientific and academic interests of the researchers and the senses that children attribute to the elderly. For the analysis, which is of a quali-quantitative nature, the physical characteristics, emotions, clothing, context, activities, and social interaction were correlated to the gender of the participants. Significant differences were found between genders, with emphasis on girls who represented a more positive depiction of old age. The results suggest the need for new approaches regarding these impressionsen_US
