Abstract
This work discusses the construction of the cultural identity of congado groups from an analysis of congado's cantigas from the central-west region of Minas Gerais through theoretical support of Semiolinguistics theory by Charaudeau (2021, 2008, 2006, [2005a] 2021, [2005b] 2021, 2004). For that, we resorted to the concepts of communicational contract, language competences and socio-discursive imaginaries. As a theory that dialogues with others, we reconcile the semiolinguistics approach with the concepts of identity, by Bauman (2005, 2003) and cultural identity, by Hall (2012, 2006, 2003). To address aspects related to congado, we resorted to the work of authors such as Mello and Souza (2002), Schechner (2012) and Silva (2010). From the perspective of this work, the cultural identity of the groups of congado is constituted through the enunciation operated by these groups within a collective social role they play during the congado festivities, thus evidencing that the identity is circumstantial, given by the communication situation in that these groups meet and in which they enunciate their congadeiro identity. To carry out this identity process, the congadeiro subject mobilizes a set of imaginaries, in the form of knowledge shared by the group, through which he represents himself, the group and also the reign party with its respective rituals.
