Relevant to teaching and learning processes, affection (affectus, in Latin)can be understood as a feeling, state of the soul, occurring simultaneously in body and mind, directly influencing the power to act, diminished, stimulated or blocked in the practiceof a certain action. For Vygotsky, emotion, thought,and will are relatedto higher psychological functions. In the educational work, affectivity materializes with the mediation of knowledge in ahorizontal relation teacher-student-object in all levels oflearning. This work analyzes the dimension of affectivity, from Vygotsky's conception of social interactionism, in scientific productions between 2006 and 2016, present in the Capes Journalsand SciELO. The Vygotskian presuppositions allow the teacher to maximize actions and promote meaningful learning, based on the cultural historical framework, on the role of mediator and on social relations.
