O império das primeiras letras: epítome de uma história de cartilhas de alfabetização no século XIX

Abstract

Este artigo é um resumo de alguns dos principais argumentos da tese “O império das primeiras letras: uma história da institucionalização da cartilha de alfabetização no século XIX” defendida no Programa de Pós-Graduação em História da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, em Junho de 2012. A tese consiste de uma abordagem histórica dos manuais destinados ao ensino da leitura e da escrita no período imperial brasileiro e segue três linhas de investigação: as condições da produção, as condições da autoria e as condições da leitura.This article is a summary of some of the main arguments of the thesis “The empire of the first writing: a history of the institutionalization of the primer literacy in the XIX century” defended in the Post Graduate program in History of the Federal University of Santa Catarina, in June of 2012. The thesis consists of a historical approach of the compendiums destined to the teaching of reading and writing in the Brazilian imperial period and it follows three lines of investigation: the conditions of the production, the conditions of the authorship and the conditions of reading.
