This study is a quali-quantitative analysis of the Biology books included in theNational Textbook Program,which objective is to collectinformation on non-transmitted diseases and identifyif they provide the students withknowledge about health promotionand if they deal with themes correlatingmetabolism and disease organic dysfunctions. To that end, it was done a bibliographical research observing concepts, current information, incentive to critical investigation,and analogy held. It was concluded that most textbooks do not relate the concept of NTDs related to pathologiesanddo not carry outthe analogy of epidemics with the cell metabolism and the study of cytology. Some have current information and relevant,emphasizing the concepts of nutrition, metabolism, mutations, external factors,and diseases related to cytology. However, it is crucial the analysis of such contexts because the teacher can get other sources of information, providingthe students withinformation to improve the quality of life, helping them to identify the metabolic dysfunctions.
