Abstract
Este artigo pretende revisitar as ideias do célebre filósofo John Locke na sua obra “Ensaio acerca do entendimento humano” publicado em 1689 e propor implicações pedagógicas do seu conceito de conhecimento. Começa, como Locke, pela matéria prima de todo conhecimento que são as ideias, depois apresenta como a mente opera com essas ideias de modo a produzir o conhecimento e finalmente discute implicações das ideias de Locke para o ensino e aprendizagem. Como implicações pedagógicas são apontadas: a importância de auxiliar o aluno a conhecer, a aprendizagem a partir construção do conhecimento, ampliação do trabalho docente no sentido de conduzir os alunos em todas as etapas do processo de conhecer e críticas ao modelo verbalista e transmissivo de ensino.
This article intends to revisit the ideas of the celebrated philosopher John Locke in his book "An Essay Concerning Human Understanding" published in 1689 and propose pedagogical implications of his concept of knowledge. He begins, like Locke, by the raw material of all knowledge that ideas are, then presents how the mind operates with these ideas in order to produce knowledge and finally discusses the implications of Locke's ideas for teaching and learning. As pedagogical implications are pointed out: the importance of helping the student to know, learning from the construction of knowledge, expansion of the teaching work in order to lead students in all stages of the process of knowing and criticism of the verbal and transmissive model of teaching.
