A educação e a vida intelectual na Primeira Escolástica

Abstract

Quando se fala da Escolástica, é-se habituado a considerar quase tão somente o século XIII, que, deste ponto de vista, representaria o apogeu de todo o desenrolar do pensamento medieval. Fala-se pouco da Escolástica greco-árabe e greco-judaica. Todavia, os limites formais deste estudo não permitem uma análise mais acurada destas duas últimas. Esta é razão pela qual o meu foco recairá sobre a Escolástica latina e, mais precisamente, sobre a sua primeira fase - a Primeira Escolástica, que culminou com o século XII e que não se apresenta como uma simples passagem, ou transição, para a Alta Escolástica.The main goal of these reflections is to examine, from an analytical and historical perspective, the question of education and intellectual life in the Latin Early Scholasticism. This first period of Scholasticism extends from the 9thto the 12thcentury. When someone discourses about Scholasticism, usually this word is understood as regarding only the 13thcentury, which is considered as the acme of the medieval thought. Also, one hardly speaks of the Greek-Arabic and the Greek-Judaic Scholasticism. However, the formal limits of this study do not allow a deeper analysis of them. That is the reason why I will focus on the Latin Scholasticism and more specifically on its first phase. Finally, it must be noted that, as the Scholasticism as whole had its climax in the 13thcentury, also the Early Scholasticism culminated in the 12thcentury, which is not simply a passage or a transition to the High Scholasticism.
