Mais perto da educação a distância
    (1996) NISKIER, Arnaldo
It cannot be said that the methodology of distance education is new. On the contrary, examples of its use from the last century are known. In Brazil, apart from the debatable experiences of correspondence teaching, analyzed with great care by the 1977 MEC/Uerj Working Group, of which I was manager, with specialists Anna Maria de Oliveira, Christiano Henning, Heloisa Maria Cardoso da Silva, João Artur Machado Zainko, Maria Amélia Sabbag Zainko, Marlene Blois and Solange Leobons, the year 1972 can be established as a milestone.

    Paradigmas da educação à distância
    (2004) NISKIER, Arnaldo
In the article Paradigms of Distance Education, there was first concern to elucidate the use of the grave accent in distance expression. We defend the nomenclature distance education because we consider it more relevant than distance learning, given that it is a process that involves more than teaching or instruction, although it also encompasses them. We emphasize that the elaboration of the educational design presupposes a broader vision of different paths and possibilities, more focused on students than on the work of professionals or the means used in the educational process. In line with the educational design we defend, we recommend the adoption of methodologies based on learning theories that prioritize the subject and effective communication processes that reduce the distance between teacher (medium) and student. The selection of the most economical and viable means (printed material and radio) denying the assertion that distance education should take place only with the use of moving images was also one of the highlighted points. However, the preparation of EAD users for a true use of virtual education, which enables the identification of reputable research sources and contact with other students and researchers (via the Internet), was also focused on.
