    The document analyzes Law 10.639 of March 2003, which institutes the teaching and discussion of African History and Culture in the contents of public and private schools and the contribution of blacks in the process of building Brazilian identity. After 15 years of the law's implementation, the text will analyze the advances and setbacks and what still needs to be done for the referred Law to become effective in schools.
