- ItemAplicação do software Zotero para apoiar a prática de Inteligência Competitiva(2012) ROSSI, Jandira Ferreira de Jesus; PASSARINI, Luis Carlos; FARIA, Leandro Innocentini Lopes deIn early 2000, the literature reported the impossibility of finding and using software for the collaboration and sharing through the Internet to support the practice of Competitive Inteligence (CI) in all of its cycle's phases. However, there is software which can be applied in various phases. Nonetheless, the software lack when it comes to activities realized during the phases of collection and analyses which required human reading of documents. Generally, the software is not able to analyze purely qualitative data in the cycle phases of CI. Because of this, it is important to study the ones which have a collaborative nature and understand how effective they can be for CI. This article reports a survey of software which potentially can aid in the works of CI, its selection by the NIT/Materiais from the UFSCar (São Carlos Federal University) and the application of the software Zotero by collectors and analysts. To evaluate Zotero, an experiment simulating a project of CI was carried out with the use of the software and without it. The simulation had the participation of two groups from different locations which communicated only through the Internet. The results confirmed that the software Zotero effectively aided the collectors and analysts in their activities.

- ItemO uso de patentes como fonte de informação em dissertações e teses de engenharia químicao caso da Unicamp(2010) RAVASCHIO, Juliana de Paula; FARIA, Leandro Innocentini Lopes de; QUONIAM, LucIt is believed that patents are not fully explored as information providers documents, both by companies and by research institutions or universities. In this context, this paper aimed to investigate whether patents are used as information sources in academic works (master's dissertations and doctoral theses). For this, works of chemical engineering from 2000 to 2007 of the State University of Campinas, Brazil (UNICAMP) were selected. Data were collected through the patents cited and referenced in academic works and the sample comprised 586 items. The results of this study have demonstrated that 16.4% of the works analyzed have used patents as information sources and have also cited this kind of document. In addition, results indicated that U.S. patents are the most cited byresearchers from UNICAMP (63,8%). Lower percentages were observed for Japanese patents (9,0%), European patents (7,2%), English patents (4,0%), German patents (3,2%) and Brazilian patents (2,7%).
- ItemVisualização de informação para simplificar o entendimento de indicadores sobre avaliação da ciência e tecnologia(2017) ALVES, Mirian Clavico; FARIA, Leandro Innocentini Lopes deThe growth of scientific activity and the development of new technologies for the dissemination of knowledge contributed to generate various indicators, used as evaluation tools of science. In addition, Brazil has established its own infrastructure to assess the scientific activity in the country and more specifically, the graduate courses, led by the Coordination of Superior Level Staff Improvement (CAPES), which makes use of indicators in the evaluation process of such courses, which are available for public access. In order to enhance the understanding of scientific indicators, the overall goal of this research was to develop and analyze a set of scientific indicators, based on the information visualization area. The chosen research method was a case study that contemplates nine graduate program in the economics area. The data was extracted from the CAPES evaluation system report from the 2013 triennial. The results achieved are a set of indicators on the dimensions of the Capes Evaluation System. Based on the theoretical background as well as the discussion of the obtained results, the conclusion is that it is feasible to make use of the concepts of information visualization area to enhance the understanding of the dynamism of science, in particular the performance of graduate programs, through the development of indicators based on data and information provided by the CAPES evaluation system, helping decision makers in the implementation of public policies and the management of such programs.
