    How were constructed our contemporary evidence on early childhood? Early education is not a concern as infant mortality is high and as long as the care of young children are under natural environment (family or household). On the other hand, as soon as women in urban areas must entrust their young children to third parties, institutions for young children set up, with reflections on what should be done, prohibited or encouraged for this first education. The evolution of institutions and discourses that preceded contemporary standards, hygiene, nutrition, behavior are briefly traceed. One looks how it began with a speech against working class parents to an attempt of "educating parents" by children interposed before the recognition of the principle of co-education.

    To represent the unified multiplicity of knowledge, the Encyclopedists conceived the "tree of knowledge". the same time, the areas of knowledge, the levels of specialization and the stages of the curriculum, from school to university. In fact, despite their stable labels (mathematics, history), disciplines, knowledge and sciences are subject to heterogeneous restrictions and logics, but the image of the tree that inhabits our school unconscious makes other possible disciplinary classifications almost "unthinkable".
