This work aims to analyze the use of Eleutherine plicata Herb. popularly known as “Nambu Tutano” in the treatment of diarrhea and amoebiasis among residents of the Ponta do Urumajó community, Pará. The work was developed in a qualitative approach, using interviews and observation, collection of plant samples, botanical identification and bibliographic survey. In the community, “Nambu Tutano” is used in the form of a tea made from the bulb of the species. The analyzes show the effectiveness of the natural treatment by the user community due to the presence of the chemical compound steroidal sapogenin, which contains analgesic and anti-dematogenic properties.
