    Aritmômetros e seus usos no Brasil nos séculos XIX e XX

    This paper discusses the circulation of ideas and pedagogical manipulatives between different countries in the process of cultural transference.This historical analysis uses the documentary research with a view to discussing an educational material destined to the teaching of arithmetic called -contador-described in the book Arithmetica Elementarof Georg August Büchler, in 1919.We conclude that this author used a textbook to dialogue and justify the importance of such a tool in teaching the decimal system.In addition, Büchler's training in a German Normal school allowed him to learn about various educational materials and allowed an appropriation of this material as published in the textbook Arithmetica Elementar.
