    Among the challenges caused by the process of implementing affirmative action policies, in the form of quotas and/or reservation of places for access to higher education, there is still a little-explored dimension, which corresponds to the production of plural sciences and knowledge that are capable of change unequal and discriminatory patterns still present in Brazilian society. The aim of this article is to present a critical-propositional reflection on political-pedagogical practices based on the experience of the Afro-Brazilian Studies Center at the Federal University of São Carlos, which has helped the field of education to understand some of the challenges caused by the policies of affirmative actions, especially initial and continuing teacher education.
