    The books A Cultura Brasileira and Educação e Desenvolvimento in Brazil both belong to different moments in Brazilian historiography in education, whose authors sought to produce summaries that would show Brazil in its cultural and educational diversity. The present work is an attempt to establish a comparative exercise between the works of Fernando de Azevedo and J. Roberto Moreira. For that, some comparative parameters were chosen, namely: the objectives of the works, the central categories of analysis, the way of using the historical approach, the structure of the chapters, the periodization and the main sources used by each one in their respective construction. It is noteworthy that this work will stick to complying with these determinations, not being an exhaustive construction around these items.
