    As perspectivas da pesquisa qualitativa para as políticas em educação pública

    The purpose of this article is twofold. The first is to define the main characteristics of qualitative research in the field of educational research in comparison with quantitative research originating from the polypositivist paradigm. The second is how this type of research can, through its results, also serve as a reference to guide the decision-making processes of educational policy managers. The article also explores how researchers using this approach are studying educational phenomena in their natural environment, seeking to make sense of or interpret them in terms of the meaning people give to them.
