- ItemAceleração, ritmo de produção e trajetória escolar: desenvolvendo o talento acadêmico(2009) GUENTHER, Zenita C.The distribution of the scholl work into a serial sequence of interlocked years install negative conditions to learning, and everyday living, for students with intellectual ability and level of achievement higher than their peer group. Acceleration is a way to advance these students through school curriculum is less time than required, without submitting them to the minimum age limits established by school systems. The big conundrum is that although it is one of the most studied themes is both, Education and Gifted Education, the results of such research do not have an impact in the educational practice, still marked by strong resistance within the school milieu. This article discuss acceleration as ameasure to develop academic talent, also the expression of intelligence as an ability domain most and perhaps better studied, in the area of giftedness and talent.
- ItemCentros comunitários para desenvolvimento de talentos - O CEDET(2007) GUENTHER, Zenita C.The Center for Talent Development, CEDET, (Guenther, 2002 -2006) develops an educational program for gifted and talented students integrated to the school system, aiming at closing the gap between what is known from research studies within the area and what happens in the educational work with gifted students. The identification methodology is marked by reaching out for the gifted children, in the school population rather than waiting for then to be "indicated" to the program. Its pedagogical planning is built upon humanistic principles underlining the basic personality dimensions: self concept; conception of others; and world frame of reference. Its dynamics involves establishing a network of influence in which the family, community and school are called to participate in the educational process in different moments. The ability domain stimulation is settled by an Individual Working Plan put together each semester by the child with his counselor, around two axes: developing his/hers identified ability domain, and improving areas of personal qualities. In three general evaluation moments (Guenther, 1996; 2002) the results indicate that the Center is reaching its goals and purposes and there is coherence with the adopted theoretical framework.
