    O uso de materiais concretos para ensinar aritmética: saberes profissionais do professor primário (1920-1940)

    Considering that the use of concrete materials to teach Arithmetic integrated the professionalknowledge of the primary teacher, this article aims to identify how this knowledge was present inthe training of teachers in the State of Paraná, between 1920 and 1940. The research, conductedin the perspective of Cultural History, mobilized official historical sources and schoolproductions of two professors who attended normal education in different decades. The studyindicated that the use of concrete materials to teach Arithmetic, articulated to the knowledge to betaught in the 1st and 2nd year of primary education, was a valuable professional knowledge andthat, as new conceptions of teaching were appropriated, knowledge underwent transformations,gaining new meanings.
