    História do ensino superior em Araxá - 1965 a 1975

    A significant portion of the History of Education in Araxá is yet to be written. This article helps to fill this gap which, contrary to what is usually believed, is not a matter of mere curiosity or nostalgia. Understanding Brazilian Education, its history and development is fundamental for planning the paths to be taken at present and in the future. The time frame of this article lies between the first Araxaense attempt to provide the municipality with Higher Education (1965) and the graduation of the first indigenous Araxaense class, at the time, of the course in Social Studies (1975). The text goes back to the context and the difficulties experienced in that period in the struggle for the implantation of Higher Education in Araxá.
