- ItemAs bibliotecas como facilitadoras no acesso à informação por usuários com deficiência visual(2018) MALHEIROS, Tania Milca; CUNHA, Murilo Bastos daThis article deals with the role of libraries as collaborators in the process of information acquisition by visually impaired users. It aims to show the importance of this role in the process of social inclusion of these users and the need to discuss this issue. As a fundamental point for its inclusion are the production and supply of alternative materials. The barriers faced in the process of information acquisition are cited, such as the lack of adapted materials and the cost of production. It also presents a history of the acquisition of information from these users and their inclusion in Brazilian and foreign libraries. The research method used was the literature review having been consulted the databaseLibrary and Information Science Abstracts (LISA), Library & Information Science and TechnologyAbstracts (LISTA), Information Science and Technology Abstracts (ISTA), Base de dados de Periódicos em Ciência da Informação (BRAPCI), Google and Google Scholar.As a conclusion, we point out the cooperation between library services as a solution to this issue.
- ItemDesenvolvimento das universidades e bibliotecas universitárias na Idade Média até à Modernidade(2017) DIÓGENES, Fabiene Castelo Branco; CUNHA, Murilo Bastos daThe essay analyzes the origin of universities, their struggles for autonomy, administrative organization and curricular structure and an account of the existence of libraries linked to universities, from the Middle Age to Modernity. In the nineteenth century, education is assumed by the State and provides a legal cover to universities scientific and pedagogical freedom. The university library had its development over the centuries, trying to keep up with changes. However, it is during this century that some service and were emerging the understanding of the relationship between the university library and the university. However, it was after the Second World War, that teaching begins his walk to the mass school, and the university library becomes an important part of the university. There is a growing emphasis on access for collections, state funding for collections development and structuring of their libraries, cooperation and automation activities. These changes begin to transform the way products and services of academic libraries. From 1970, new technologies penetrate in these areas and universities and their libraries affected due to such technologies. Reform proposals emerge generating new challenges for these two centennial institutions.

Apresenta as recomendações para seleção, criação e manutenção dessas coleções, a partir do exame de literatura especializada, abordando aspectos do conteúdo, viabilidade técnica, funcionalidade, confiabilidade, suporte do fornecedor, licenciamento, preservação, acessibilidade e aspectos contratuais. Discorre sobre aspectos que devem ser observados na tomada de decisão sobre a escolha de manter ou não documentos impressos quando há o equivalente digital. Conclui com a síntese das recomendações, indicando também estudos relacionados ao desenvolvimento de coleções.
- ItemO ensino da biblioteca digital nos currículos de graduação em Biblioteconomia(2013) CASTRO, Barbara Olinda de; CUNHA, Murilo Bastos daThe present study is an exploratory research conducted among the coordinators of Librarianship undergraduate courses, referring to the teaching of Digital Library subject at the Brazilian Universities. The research enabled us to identify if currently the universities are concerned with the transmission of this matter to their students, and also, if they take into consideration their formation as professionals, since the future holds great expectations in this area. The survey allowed us to analyze: if there is a specific discipline or an area within a discipline; the language of the bibliography adopted; if practical lessons are offered; in which academic period of the course it is taught; if it is a elective or optional subject; if the subject is frequently offered to students; the formation of the professor which teaches the subject; if the subject is offered at the department of Library Studies; and finally, if the institution holds seminars about the matter.
