    Os graduandos em pedagogia e suas filosofias pessoais frente a matemática e seu ensino

    This study intended to discuss personal philosophies that graduating students of pedagogy bring from their mathematical formation in Basic Education (elementary school), as well as understand how these philosophies intervene in the relations they have established with Mathematics and its teaching. The study included 157 individuals, coming from three different institutions of higher education, in four different cities in the state of São Paulo. The instrument used was the discussion of a teaching case. The analysis focused: 1) the identification (or not) of mathematical ideas present in strategies employed in the observed teaching case; 2) the students’ personal philosophies regarding mathematics and its teaching and Education in general. Most of the graduating students concentrated only on the description of the pupils’ procedures in the proposed case, granting the conceptual issue a secondary level of importance. They also found many difficulties in assuming the case teacher’s place, and revealed a dual vision of mathematics teaching.
