    This article - complete search of fruit -discusses the online teaching, which is taken as a pedagogical practicemediated by digital technologies of information and communication. The research in question of the questioning of current thinking marked by technological determinism, which tends to consider that these technologies represent a new educational paradigm, assuming that the technical capabilities of the communication media network are then automatically transferred to the pedagogical practices. The cutout presented here, we deal with the theoretical and methodological approach underlying the research, taking as reference the notion of instrument in view of the instrumental approach proposed by Rabardel (1994, 1995a, 1995b). The purpose of this article is then discuss some important implications for the analysis of online teaching when considering digital technologies of information and communication as a tool. We can conclude that the use of the instrument concept as the unit of analysis allows us to show that, in pedagogical practices, digital information and communication technologies simultaneously present technical, conceptual and representational. Moreover, we can say that the mediating role of such technologies is in the form of ownership by individuals. For this reason, they do not represent a paradigm itself may have its use guided by different pedagogical approaches.
