    ThepresenttextaddressesthedidacticmaterialsfortheteachingofMathematicsindicatedbythePrimaryTeacher’smanualofParana.Thequestionthatguidedthisstudywas:whatdidacticmaterialsandtheirconceptionofteachingwereindicatedbyPrimaryTeacher’smanualofParanafortheteachingofMathematicsinthestateschoolsinthe1960s?Supportedbytheperspectiveofculturalhistoryandtheconceptsofrepresentationandappropriation,thetextpresentstheguidelinesanddidacticmaterialsindicatedfortheteachingofMathematicsatthetimeandconfrontedwithreferencessuchasBackheuser(1946),Albuquerque (1954), Thorndike (1936), Costa(2016),Pinto(2016)andPinheiro(2013).Itwaspossibletoidentifythattheresourcesanddidacticmaterialsexpressedanactiveandintuitiveconceptionofteaching,thatis,thePrimaryTeacher’smanualofParanafollowedatendencythatenabledthestudentthecontactwithobjectsthatcouldexpressmathematicalconceptsandfacts.
